Annabel's practice is largely focused on mark making, depth and layering. Experimenting with mediums in order to create an immersive, atmospheric quality that forces the viewer to question the marks and the placement of them.

Her recent body of work has been exploring historic boat yards; “I walk past boat after boat elevated on stilts - they are being restored, the weathered, eroded hull of each boat is unique and accidentally beautiful. For this rare snapshot in time, our eyes are level with surfaces that spend their lives primarily beneath the surface of the water. These paintings are an attempt to document the limbo that Underfall Yard brings to these boats, the period of time between journeys. The large expanses of flat colour represent the unknown period of time the hull spends submerged in the water.”
