Alex Morton
Alex Morton is a British artist whose work is inspired by Cornwall’s rugged north coast and he donates a percentage from the sale of his work to environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage. “As a surfer, it’s the surf, sea and wind that inspire me most,” he says. “It is the rugged coastline, the expanse of the sea and the energy it brings through the wind and the waves that relaxes me and draws me.”
While he takes inspiration from the topography of the north Cornwall coast, the excitement for him as an artist lies in not knowing how each painting will turn out until it’s done. “I work on a variety of surfaces, including canvas, paper and board and I mainly paint with my surface lying directly on the floor, especially the larger pieces.”
