Outdoor Survival Activities with Under The Canopy Cornwall (various dates throughout July and August)
Join Under the Canopy Cornwall for 3 hours of parent free time.
The team will take you through the key priorities of survival: protection, rescue, water and food, and break each part down in to a micro hands-on lessons.
Build a shelter and make sure it is water tight!
Start and maintain a small fire using natural methods with a demo for electrical, friction and chemical, flint and steel. Then learn how to make a smoke signal using natural material.
Build a water filter out of natural material. Find out how to filter dirty old water to see how clean it becomes.
Relight my Fire! Use the techniques learnt to restart the fire, then learn the berry code, forage for berries, make camp bread and jam. If you are brave enough try something still wriggling to eat!
A bit about under the canopy team
Ex Royal Marines Commando's who served and learnt survival skills in the jungle, desert and arctic. The team are Bear Grylls survival academy instructors and experienced forest school level 3 leaders. You can also add adventurers, explorers, climbers and world travellers to the list!
A variety of backgrounds all linked by one common theme: a thirst for adventure and a passion for leading in the outdoors!
All the leaders are medically qualified and hold enhanced DBS certificates, safeguarding, food hygiene certificates and a host of individual skill set outdoor adventure qualifications.
UTC Consent forms must be completed before arrival.
Bookings close the day before session start date.
Attendees must be 8 years and above.
