Netting The Stars
After studying fine art at Hertfordshire University Teresa has worked professionally, exhibiting work in galleries internationally. Finding inspiration from the landscape around her, she captures a sense of the wild Cornish weather in her work.
“As an artist I am continually re-inventing my changing relationship to landscape and place. My conversations in paint take place on the ambiguous boundaries of interior and exterior spaces, especially the places where land meets water either as coastal coves and beaches or river estuaries. Having relocated to Cornwall eleven years ago I am in love with the coast paths, the light on the sea, the changing weather, the shapes of nature and of man’s intervention in the intriguing ancient archaeology and the mining heritage.”
“The works often begin with observational drawings, which link with personal memories, thoughts and feelings, the drips and splodges of oil paint eventually becoming a creative wandering from the original scene. Surface as well as colour is vital both textually and metaphorically: I try to capture the unexpected and invisible moments which lie beyond the visual.
