Natural Silk Dyeing (10th December)
Join Sian of Lancaster & Cornish to learn the art of natural dyeing. Based in south east Cornwall, Sian’s plant dyed silk ribbons have gained fame in the recent Universal Film production of EMMA, and graced weddings and events worldwide.
Sian’s work as a natural dyer evolves with the seasons, using ancient recipes of natural plant based colours, infused with romance and a little bit of magic. With a family history in textiles, from the cotton mills of Manchester to silk sellers, she combines her great passion for colour with a love for the landscape of Cornwall.
You will learn about preparing and mordanting fabrics, make samples and explore natural colour.
Begins at 10am. Approximately three hours long.
Open to both locals and those staying at our Cornish outpost hotel, Bedruthan. Please meet us at Create Shop and Gallery fifteen minutes before the start time. If not staying at Bedruthan, please stop by reception first and let them know your car’s registration plate.
Please see here for crafternoon and workshop terms and conditions.
