Alan James Mcleod

After a brief but successful career as a freelance textile designer, working for companies such as Warner Fabrics, John Lewis and Habitat, Alan had a long hiatus away from the world of art and design.

He returned in earnest at the beginning of 2014, producing hand-painted papers that he often collages together, to produce mainly abstract and highly textural artworks.

Originally drawn to the landscape around him and sourcing worn and weathered surfaces as inspiration, Alan now uses imagined artefacts and relics, music and memory as a starting point for contemplative and decorative work, that invites the viewer’s own interpretation.
